Annual Innovation Challenge

The Annual Innovation Challenge of Chitkara University - NOVATE culminated on 11 May 2018 into an exclusive exposition at Explore Hub, where 372 students participated from Chitkara University, Punjab, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh and Chitkara International School, Chandigarh. The Problems identified within University campus were considered as innovation challenges to students and faculty in NOVATE 2018. The students and faculty members worked relentlessly on finding innovative solutions to these problems and presented Proof of Concepts, Prototypes and Minimum Viable Products to eminent jury members. "Portable vaccum pot” by Hari Verma, Manasvi Singh, Parth Bhardwaj and Sahil Kapil bagged the first prize of Rupees 25 K, the first runner up comprising of team members Hitesh Sharma, Harshit Chaudhary, Gaganpreet Singh and Harsimran Singh bagged the prize money of Rs 10 K for their innovative solution for "Fruit plucking machine” and the third runner up Shubham Roy, Vikram Kumar and Vaibhav Hasija bagged the prize money of Rs 5 K for designing a “Cafeteria recharge system". The prizes earned by students for Publishing research includes the team of Aditi Rihan, Aaditri Gupta and Ayushi Panwar who has achieved First prize of worth INR 5000, team of Rajat Gupta, Danish Mohan, Gautam Sumitra and Shivankar Tiwari who earned prize money of INR 3000 as second prize and team of Abhay Singh, Abhinav Shroff and Sahil Dhiman who grabbed prize money of INR 2000 as third prize

This event had achieved a huge success that it was quite difficult to announce only three prizes each in NOVATE and publishing research so the jury members decided to present jury awards which are sponsored by applied materials to the teams of Shoe Shiner, Automatic Power Cut System, Inter College Transportation System and Automated Pressing Machine.

And also there is a special mention for Team of “Book Seeker” project and team of Hot Wire Foam Cutter.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara, with the jury members, presented the awards to winners and said, “NOVATE is setting ground for path breaking innovations at Chitkara University. I am eagerly awaiting to see these solutions getting implemented at the University”. Dr. Archana Mantri, Pro-vice-chancellor of Chitkara University, Punjab also congratulated the winners and motivated all the participants, willing to set up his/her venture. Dr Sachin Ahuja, Director RESEARCH, Chief Mentor and the backbone of NOVATE encouraged participants to make the prototypes scalable and turn them into commercial products, if possible

NOVATE 2018 had achieved a huge success with the great contribution of Pro-vice chancellor Dr.Archana Mantri, Dean Research Dr.Rajnish Sharma, Director Research Dr Sachin Ahuja, Dr.Jyotsana and last but not the least the students community who have brought new heights in innovation to create a distinct path for the society to follow and make their University feel proud on them.
