Scope: Across its three campuses – CUPB, CUHP and CIS, there is a community of 10000 students, faculty and staff. In its day-to-day and other operations, the campus administration faces a multitude of problems. These problems require engineering solutions. Through EPIP we bring these problems to the table, curate them to become design statements. Faculty and students to come together and propose solutions (most of them interdisciplinary in nature) to compete in Chitkara University’s Annual Problem Solving Challenge – NOVATE each year in April – May.
The problems will be static on the website of NOVATE, till their solution is found out and deployed. Such problems will then be removed from NOVATE portal and new ones will be added.
Assessment and Evaluation: If a student chooses this vertical, he will have to work on either the chosen and identified problem as a whole or on a part of it, as deemed fit by the department / mentor faculty. The projects will be assessed / evaluated (for academic purpose) by a committee constituted by the department. Best problem solutions from various semesters / streams can combine together to participate in the annual problem Solving challenge – NOVATE by April end / early May to compete for the prizes.
In our learning spaces such as library, reading rooms, lecture halls, office desk etc., tabletops are fixed. The persons of different height or with some back problems may not be able to work efficiently due to uncomfortable postures.
Removal of outer covering or skin from fruits/vegetables is a time consuming and difficult task to do with knife. People often accidently cut their fingers and hands during the peeling or cutting of fruits and vegetables. The idea is to design and fabricate an automatic machine that can quickly peel off fruits and vegetables.
In a sport arena of university, many students play game with balls. Design a Robowith whom the students can play ball-based games.
In coming years, University has vision to build its own horticulture where fruit of organic nature are to be grown. To reduce the damage of ripened fruit, which fall on the ground, it is important to identify the ripened fruit and pluck it out on right time to maximize the profit. Design and fabricate a machine/robot that can identify ripened fruit and pluck it from tree.
To be dressed in a proper manner is professional requirement of a well-groomed student.Shoes happen to be an important component of the whole attire. Design a lost cost show shining machine which can be installed at various places in the campus and can be used by students at will.
University host many gueststhrough out year during different events organized by departments. As part of our hospitality regime and as part of our traditional practice, we give them gifts.
Chitkara University campus has been recognized as one of the cleanest Universities of the country by UGC. To keep up with the tradition and to facilitate our maintenance department, design a cleaning device which is portable and easy to use.
In order to make our campus infrastructure all-inclusive, design a portable device for visually impaired students to make their stay comfortable in the campus.
In order to reduce the burden of library staff, design an automatic device that stacks the books in a predefined manner.
In campus lots of construction work is going on through out the year. To facilitate construction task design and fabricate robot to work on an identified construction task.
All our hostels have solar water heaters.The solar panels are fixed and has limitation in terms of capturing the solar power. Toenhance the efficiency of system, design sun tracking systems for the solar panels.
At Chitkara International School, kids of 4-7 years are provided with different learning toys. Students have access to various learning and playing toys that enhance the learning. It has been observed that the kids are attracted most to the automobile i.e. cars, bikes. Design an educational toy car for the kids of this age group.
